Class Series: Explore Painting with the Pallette Knife

  • Brownwood Art Center 215 Fisk Ave (map)

The Brownwood Art Center is pleased to announce a 3-classseries, Exploring Painting with the Palette Knife, with instructor Christine Brisley, starting Thurs. April 7, and continuing on April 14, and April 21.  The Art Center is at 215 Fisk, and allclasses will be from 1-3 pm.

Tuition for the 3-class series is $100.  Register and pay in person at the Art Center during regular gallery hours, Tues.- Fri. from 2-6 pm, and Sat. from 10 am to 2 pm.

While traditional palette knives are straight like a big butter knife, and used primarily for mixing paint,  painting knives have a bend above the blade to keep the painter’s knuckles from smearing the painted surface as they work.  Knife blades can be made of metal or plastic and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Materials for students to bring:

Acrylic paint

Small painting knife

1 Canvas  sized from 14” x 14” to 16” x 20”

Pencils and paint brushes

Christine’s class series will show how to use the painting knife to create texture and flow of paint, resulting in exciting combinations of color and adding an extra dimension to your work.
