Photography Shootout
Calling all photographers—
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just discovering your passion for the camera! Join us for an exciting Photography Shootout where creativity and skill take center stage. This event is open to photographers of all ages, with a special Best in Show award and a Best Student Photograph prize up for grabs. Adults may enter for just $15, while students can participate for free. Don’t miss this chance to showcase your talent, compete for monetary awards, and connect with fellow photography enthusiasts!
How it works:
Pre-register on-line $15 for adults, free for students
Online registration will be available on October 3rd.
Arrive at the art center by 12 noon on Saturday November 8th
At 12 noon the theme for the shoot out will be announced along with any other special instructions
Photographers are released to take photos based on the announced theme
Once photos are taken return to the art center where workstations will be setup for minimal post processing in the software of your choice.
Only minimal photo AI will be allowed.
All photos must be submitted by 3pm on November 8th.
The submitted photographs will be judged to determine award winners:
$250 Best in Show Award. $100 Best Student Photo
Hand Knitting Demo with Peggy Makowski

Join us at the Brownwood Art Center for a free captivating hand knitting demonstration showcasing various styles and techniques. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner looking to learn something new, this event is perfect for anyone with a love for the craft.
Peggy Makowski, your demonstrator, will guide you through the process, working with “chunky” yarns to create a variety of beautiful accessories. Come immerse yourself in the world of hand knitting and discover the joy of creating beautiful, handmade pieces. This free demonstration is from 10am to noon on Saturday September 6. Open to the public.

Gouache Class

Step by Step Introduction to using Gouache "The Now Medium". Paint like oil, Paint like Watercolor Learn how it works and all the other applications of Gouache.
First used in France in the 18th Century this medium has made it's mark this past few years. Come and learn

Come join the fun. We’re having a Painting Party on August 2nd from 6pm-8pm hosted at the Art Center by acclaimed south Texas artist Mr. Jeremy Serna. Up to 40 artists will be in the event.
Entry fee is $45.
Refreshments, including wine, beer and other beverages will be served.

Plein Air Painting Experience
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is not being held at the Art Center.
Fee: $35.00 (fees and registration can be accomplished online or at the Art Center. IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO REGISTER AND/OR PAY AT THE LOCATION OF THE WORKSHOP.
What you’ll need to bring to the workshop:
Watercolors or Gouache, watercolor paper or watercolor journal
one wide brush, one round brush or water brush
micro rag or paper towels, small 8oz. water container for washing your brushes
small spritzer to keep paints and paper moist, a board or easel to work on
chair to set in, hat or umbrella, water to hydrate
